My Picks From the China Glaze Sunsational Summer 2013 Collection: Heat Index and Highlight of My Summer

Happy Wednesday! It's been really hot here so I thought it would be appropriate to start pulling out the neons for summer! Yay! These were my 2 picks (so far) from the China Glaze Sunsational collection

Heat Index is a neon pink jelly. This freaked out my camera! It is way more neon in real life. The thing I didn't like about this was the formula. This was 4 coats and you could still see my nail line quite clearly. The color is great though, and I want to try this for a jelly sandwich.

Highlight of My Summer is a bright neon mint green. This was a few shades deeper in real life but even more neon. This one also freaked out my camera! The formula on this one was pretty difficult to deal with. It was thick and gloopy and streaky. You can even see streaks after I added top coat (see my middle nail)! I do like the color though, and if I want to wear it again, I think I'll have to add a bunch of thinner.

While the colors are great, the formulas are disappointing. I may go back and pick up another one of the jellies but I'll probably be staying away from the cremes. What were your picks from this collection? Or are you going to pass due to the formula?

  1. Hi Elle!!! I guess it's a general opinion that the formulas on this collection are hard to work with. I understand that a jelly takes many coats to be opaque and sometimes never is. But it's unforgivable that the creme one was gloopy. I got HOMS too, haven't tried it yet. I loved the color!!

    1. I get Heat Index taking a while to get opaque but I'm not willing to do more than 4 coats. Maybe undies would help. It was still a bit streaky though.... and HOMS... maybe I just had a bad bottle? The color is so pretty and I really wanted this to work but it didn't
