Essie Skirting the Issue

Happy Monday! I don't know about you  but I am not ready for the week to start! Hopefully some pretty nails will brighten up your morning.

So for this mani I started out with 3 coats of Essie Skirting the Issue from the Stylenomics collection from last fall. I really love this deep red jelly and was just planning on doing a nice, toned down mani for once.

Shiny! That's my camera's reflection on my nails.
Then, I managed to ding a couple of my nails (of course). I didn't really want to redo them so I decided to cover it up with some nail art. I remembered that I had made a bunch of DIY nail stickers (basically made by painting designs with nail polish on a ziploc bag) a while ago and never used them. I had a few gray hearts made with Revlon Graceful, so I just dabbed a bit of clear nail polish on my nail and stuck them on, in the process covering up the dings! :) Here is the result.

I added a right side up and an upside down heart on my thumb and one on my ring finger. As you can see on the ring finger I did have a bit of streaking when I added top coat. I need to work on my technique with these, but they are a fun way to do nail art for someone like me who has issues with doing it directly on the nail.

Also, you may have noticed that I have major nubs now compared to my posts last week. I had a major nail break on my left pinky on Friday that followed a couple others that I had on my index fingers (both hands) in the past week.  I am totally fed up with my base coat right now. I had been using OPI Nail Envy for a few months every single time I did a manicure, but my nails were not growing and often broke. I do have weak nails but I have been working on strengthening them for months now. I thought that the Nail Envy was just taking a long time to work, but after around 4-5 month of using it, I am totally disappointed and looking for another nail strengthener. Please give me your suggestions! I know some of you out there have beautiful nails so I'd love to hear how you do it.

Have a lovely day!

  1. i am using nail envy at the moment and i have heard great things about it, however everyone is different, have you tried essie "grow stronger" or sally hansen "green tea and bamboo nail strengthener"? out of those two i have tried, i prefer the sally hansen "green tea and bamboo nail strengthener" :)

    1. I too heard amazing things about Nail Envy but it just wasn't working at all for me. I'm in the process of trying to find another base coat and I will put those on my list for sure! Thank you so so much hun
